CBS Sports: Former coach of the Detroit Lions has signed a mega deal to joined the Miami Dolphins.
Tom Pelissero reported that the Miami Dolphins have hired Robert Prince, a former Detroit Lions assistant, as their new wide receivers coach. For Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, this is a big move since Prince adds a lot of experience to a South Beach receiving corps that is already very excellent.
The Journey of Robert Prince
Prince started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Humboldt State in 1989, and it has lasted for decades. Before entering the NFL, where he played a significant role as the wide receivers coach for the Detroit Lions from 2014 to 2020, he spent a number of years coaching at the university level. Prince helped mold some of the team’s most successful offensive seasons when he was in Detroit by working with elite players like Golden Tate, Marvin Jones Jr., and Calvin Johnson. Prince has now served as a coach for 14 different teams, counting both collegiate and professional clubs.
An Unusual Experience as the Acting Head Coach
Along with his coaching accomplishments, Prince’s tenure as the Lions’ acting head coach in 2020 was a special chapter in his career. Prince took over as the team’s head coach for a Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a COVID-19 epidemic forced numerous coaching staff members to miss time, including interim head coach Darrell Bevell. It was a significant game in his career, even though the Lions lost 47-7.
Role with the Dallas Cowboys Lately
Prince’s credentials were further cemented when he was the Dallas Cowboys’ receivers coach from 2022 to 2024. Prince will now help Miami’s wide receivers grow under McDaniel’s scheme after joining the Dolphins, which will help the club succeed in the future.
After a stellar coaching career, Prince is getting a well-earned new chapter with this wonderful addition to the Dolphins.
