CBS Sports: Micah Parsons reacts scathingly to the Dallas Cowboys legend’s critique of “culture.”
Dez Bryant, a former Pro Bowl player who had an outstanding eight-season career with the Cowboys until injuries ended it, was the catalyst for it all. Since then, Bryant has started to speak on NFL issues often, particularly those involving the Cowboys, and he frequently shares his opinions on social media.
Like a lot of Cowboys supporters, Bryant is annoyed by the team’s recent—or really, decades-long—stuckness. In the past 30 years, the Cowboys have not advanced to the Super Bowl or even an NFC title game.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones, along with his son Stephen Jones, is mostly in charge of the Cowboys’ front office. It’s obvious that Bryant dislikes the way the company is set up.
“From now on, I’ll speak my truth about the Cowboys… whether it’s good or bad,” Bryant wrote on Twitter/X this week. It’s time for the club to start winning now that Jerry has established a strong brand. A true cultural revolution is long overdue. I’m tired of all the nepotism. Get a game-winning person in there.
Micah Parsons, a Cowboys standout, disagrees with Bryant, though. Parsons, the team’s linebacker, said that Bryant had eight years as a great player to help alter the culture if he really wanted to.
In response to Bryant’s remarks on Twitter/X, Parsons said: You had enough talent and were most likely among the best in your day, therefore things like these annoy me, Dez! Brother, you had the opportunity to alter the culture! The culture may have been altered by you!
As of right now, Jerry and Stephen Jones continue to lead the Cowboys, and it doesn’t appear like anything will change very soon. The club is now looking for a new head coach after firing Mike McCarthy last week.
