CBS Sports: Following the Buccaneers-Commanders Thriller, the Lions send a three-word message.
With a game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings scheduled for Monday night, the NFL playoffs’ divisional round is almost finalized. The Philadelphia Eagles, who defeated the Green Bay Packers with a commanding 22–10 victory, will play the winner of Monday night’s game. The Detroit Lions were waiting for their opponent on the opposite side of the NFC bracket after defeating the Vikings handily in the last week of the regular season to secure a first-round bye.
Dan Quinn is going to the divisional round in his debut season with the Washington Commanders after the club stunned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night with a walk-off field goal from Zane Gonzalez. As Quinn watched the kick soar through the air after the game, he remarked, “I felt like I was in a Bounty commercial where the cup spills and like, ‘nooooo,'”. “As it went through, I just paused and probably skipped a beat, but that’s the emotion where it was at.”
He will be rewarded with a home game against what is undoubtedly the league’s top club. Before a game between the Commanders and Lions, the latter sent out a three-word statement.
“See you Saturday,” the squad posted on social media along with information about the impending competition.
Once the game was confirmed, the Lions were a 5.5-point favorite against Washington, but as of Monday morning, Jared Goff and company were an eight-point favorite, further shifting the line in Detroit’s favor. Saturday night’s game between Detroit and Washington begins at 8:00 p.m. ET. Fox will broadcast the game.
