Breaking news: Following Josh Allen’s rejection, the Bills send a blunt message to the NFL.
It’s possible that the Buffalo Bills received some materials for their bulletin boards this week.
The Bills were mostly overlooked when The Associated Press’s All-Pro roster was revealed on Friday, even though they had won 13 games and secured the No. 2 spot in the AFC for the third straight season. Quarterback Josh Allen garnered second-team honors while no other player was nominated to the list.
The Bills responded bluntly on social media following the rejection.
In a post on X, the team said, “Zero Buffalo Bills have been voted as First Team AP All-Pro…” and included a looping video of Allen curtly responding, “OK,” to a reporter’s query.
Bills Are Getting More Inspired
Beyond Allen, the Bills had a number of other All-Pro picks, but none of them received enough votes to be selected to the first or second teams. Cornerback Christian Benford has turned into one of the league’s top defensive backs and Dion Dawkins is regarded one of the finest tackles, but both garnered only a handful of votes.
Sal Maiorana of the Democrat & Chronicle pointed out that Buffalo’s opponent in this weekend’s wild-card round received a lot more recognition from the All-Pro list, which may inspire the Bills to play on Sunday.
At the very least, Maiorana said, “the Bills’ blowout should give them some extra motivation to make a playoff run, which begins Sunday against the Denver Broncos.”
By the way, the Broncos ended 10-7 and are ranked seventh, but three of its players—cornerback Patrick Surtain, offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz, and punt returner Marvin Mims—were chosen for the starting lineup. Additionally, defensive tackle Zach Allen and edge rusher Nik Bonitto were voted to the second team.
Josh Allen’s bad sign
Even though Allen was the clear favorite to earn his first league MVP award going into this week, the odds changed significantly once the All-Pro roster was revealed. Allen received 18 of the 50 first-place All-Pro votes, while Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens received 30. Jackson is currently in the lead to win what would be his third MVP trophy, since the media members who choose the All-Pro list also vote on the league MVP award.
Some people are still arguing in favor of Allen. According to veteran NFL reporter Peter King, the Bills quarterback should focus on their value to their teams rather than their stats, since Jackson leads Allen in the most of statistical categories this season.
“In my Top 3 this year, it’ll be Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, period,” King stated in an appearance on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. “Because you shouldn’t make this an award about stats or who had the best statistical year. The player isn’t the most exceptional. The most valuable player is this one.
Allen has ignored inquiries about his place in the MVP contest and instead stayed committed to the team’s hopes of winning the Super Bowl. Allen gave a direct comment when asked if he thought his performance earned him an MVP award following the team’s victory against the New York Jets in Week 17.
“I don’t really care about that,” Allen answered.
