Astros vs. Twins: Former Houston shortstop Carlos Correa looks forward to playing old team during Game 1 of ALDS - ABC13 Houston

After losing outfielder Juan Soto to the New York Mets, the Yankees have taken a number of steps to strengthen their 2025 roster. Jack Curry of the YES Network thinks the Bombers will move Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base as well. Is that making it possible to deal for Carlos Correa, an infielder for the Minnesota Twins? Following the Yankees’ first World Series participation since 2009, general manager Brian Cashman has put in a lot of effort to strengthen his squad, but more has to be done. Gleyber Torres, a veteran second baseman, agreed to a one-year contract worth $15 million with the Detroit Tigers. The Bombers’ infield now has a gap that has largely been filled since 2018.

Chisholm assumed everyday responsibilities at third base after moving to the Bronx before to the 2024 trade deadline. He did, however, play second base for the Miami Marlins during the first few years of his major league career. The Yankees may enter spring training hoping that DJ LeMahieu can find another outside option or get back to his previous level of play at third base. How might the Twins be persuaded to move Correa to the Bronx? Robbie Hyde, an MLB analyst, suggested the following fictitious trade: The Yankees get a shortstop. Correa, Carlos Right-handed pitching prospect Will Warren, utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera, and right-handed pitcher Clarke Schmidt are acquired by the Twins.

Carlos Correa finds peace with Twins, MLB trade deadline rumors

Hyde stated in a YouTube video that “Correa was going to play third base when he was going to sign with the Mets a couple of years ago.” Given that he has been prone to injuries in the past several years, I believe it might ultimately be beneficial to him.

“He would be amazing with the Yankees.” Correa is about to start the third season of a $200 million, six-year contract with Minnesota. According to Spotrac, the shortstop’s luxury-tax effect will be $33.33 million annually between 2025 and 2028, even if his actual pay will fluctuate annually. Additionally, vesting options for each season from 2029 to 2032 are part of his contract.
