ESPN:Detroit Lions rookie send a strong warning to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of their NFC North matchup.
The Detroit Lions have been hailed as the NFL’s greatest team for the whole season. The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked #1 overall, but the rankings don’t match up. But for the whole season, the Lions have been at the top of the NFC.
The Minnesota Vikings, who have the exact identical record as their NFC North Divisional rivals, are another club that has been overlooked in contrast to the Lions. Remarkably, a victory over the Lions on Sunday would still give the Vikings the top spot and a first-round playoff bye in the NFC.
However, after winning their Week 7 matchup 31-29, several Lions players are feeling quite sure that they can defeat the Vikings for the second time this season.
Terrion Arnold of the Detroit Lions trash talks about the Minnesota Vikings.
The Detroit Lions will play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night, and while some NFL executives don’t think they’ll win, others do. Specifically, despite their great receiving combination, Lions first-round rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold doesn’t believe the Vikings can hang.
We’re not a good fit for Minnesota. We have people who provide cover. We have cover players, but they have good receivers.
The last time these two teams faced each other, Arnold, the 24th overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft, earned two tackles. On Sunday, either Amik Robertson or Arnold will shadow Justin Jefferson, who caught seven of eight targets for 81 yards and a score. For 66 yards, Jordan Addison caught three of four targets. Sam Darnold also completed 22-of-27 passes for 259 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while Jalen Nailor caught 4 of 5 targets for 76 receiving yards.
After running his mouth, Arnold should be prepared to back it up on Sunday, but this will undoubtedly end up as bulletin board material inside the Vikings’ locker room as if they needed any additional motivation with a first-round playoff bye on the line. Arnold was targeted three times in coverage and allowed all three passes to be caught for 35 yards, including 17 yards against the clock, according to Pro Football Focus. He is currently ranked 188th among 219 cornerbacks this season with an overall grade of 49.6.
