In Week 18, Josh Allen will play for the Bills, but for a strange reason.

At 13-3, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are well positioned to secure the second seed in the AFC. According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd club, Allen will start Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots even though the club has nothing to lose.

Josh Allen will start Sunday’s game against the Patriots, according to Bills head coach Sean McDermott, but he won’t play much to maintain his run of consecutive starts, Meirov stated.

From a young player who was inconsistent to one of the finest in the NFL, Allen has started 114 straight games. The 28-year-old still has a ways to go, though, before he can match Brett Favre’s 297-run record.

According to AJ Feldman of News 8 Rochester, Allen will play for a short while, but other starters will take a break to recover for the AFC Wild Card game.

In the playoffs, the Bills must finally overcome the Chiefs.
This is Buffalo’s fifth consecutive season at the top of the AFC East, and they haven’t missed a beat after dealing standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs in April. But before the Bills can be considered a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl, they need to defeat their archenemy.

Naturally, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are that kryptonite. Since 2020, they have defeated Buffalo three times in the playoffs, each time by a margin of one or two possessions. Though they need to produce more clutch plays in the crucial situations this time, the Bills are still within striking distance of catching them.

However, they have to win the Divisional and Wild Card rounds before they can face the Chiefs. The Bills won’t face Kansas City until the AFC Championship, should both teams advance, since they have secured the top seed at 15-1. Being good throughout the regular season is one thing, but the ability to step up when it counts most is what distinguishes the exceptional players. With his legacy at stake, Allen cannot allow Mahomes to defeat him in January for the fourth consecutive year.
