A timeline of allegations against Sean 'Diddy' Combs : NPR

A Texas lawyer who has brought numerous cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs on behalf of anonymous accusers of sexual misconduct—including one that claimed rapper Jay-Z was involved in a teen rape—has now sued Jay-Z’s business, Roc Nation, alleging it attempted to pay former Buzbee clients to bring legal action against him and sent individuals posing as state officials to harass plaintiffs.

December 18 Roc Nation and its lawyers were sued by Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee and his firm, which is representing an accuser against Jay-Z. The lawsuit alleges that Roc Nation and its lawyers employed “shadowy operatives” to track down current and former clients and attempt to persuade them to sue the firm, offering as much as $10,000 in one instance. He alleged that Roc Nation employees “flashed fake badges” and purported to be Texas state authorities in an effort to get them to submit bogus claims, and that one of them confessed to the scam on audiotape.

In an interview with Vibe, a representative for Roc Nation called the lawsuit a “sham” and a “pathetic attempt to distract and deflect attention.” An unnamed celebrity who was subsequently revealed as Jay-Z filed an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee last month after the lawyer reportedly threatened to file a “public lawsuit” if he didn’t consent to a confidential settlement of the abuse allegations.

December 8: The music mogul and rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was accused of raping the girl along with Combs in a lawsuit filed on October 20. The lawsuit was filed after an Alabama woman claimed that she was 13 years old in 2000 when Combs and another male celebrity repeatedly raped her while a female celebrity watched during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

December 8Carter described the accusations as “idiotic” in a statement released on Sunday night, and said that Buzbee tried to “blackmail” him. “He had calculated that the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” the statement said. It did the exact reverse, sir! I felt compelled to publicly reveal you as the scammer you are. “To true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit,” Carter wrote in the statement, his thoughts and prayers are with them.
