CBS Sports: The NFL has banned and punished the Broncos electrifying star for misbehavior.
Over his bye weekend, Jonathan Cooper received some unfavorable news.
A hit to the head and neck region of Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston resulted in a $12,668 punishment for the Denver Broncos edge rusher, who last month got a four-year contract deal.
Cooper’s contact on the play of Denver’s 41-32 victory did not result in a penalty.
Cooper is the 12th Broncos player to receive a fine this season. Eight of the Broncos’ 14 fines thus far have occurred within the first five weeks of the regular season.
The Broncos’ penalty for 2024 thus far:
First Week:
Nik Bonitto, an edge rusher, was fined $8,791 for roughing the passer.
Brandon Jones, a safety, was fined $11,255 for wearing a face mask.
Week Two:
$13,972 for an equipment violation at Safety P.J. Locke
P.J. Locke, safety: $13,972 for striking an unprotected player
The center Luke Wattenberg: $5,872 for a blindside block that was not permitted
Week 5:
Fullback $7,653 for an unlawful blindside block by Michael Burton
The defensive end $14,069 for John Franklin-Myers’ unsportsmanlike behavior
