Bills EDGE Von Miller, frustrated and angry, says he shouldn't have played in 2023 - Buffalo Rumblings

This is excellent value given where the Bills may end up in the selection order.

Since coming to Buffalo in 2017, Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott have prioritized defense. The Bills selected five defensive players in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, prior to Beane’s appointment as general manager. Tre’Davious White, Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, and Kaiir Elam are some of these athletes. In the second round of the 2020 draft, the pair also selected A.J. Epenesa.

The Bills have been putting more of an emphasis on offense lately. They selected Josh Allen, the superstar they had envisioned, in the 2018 draft. The Bills acquired tight end Dalton Kincaid in 2023. Then, last year, the Bills selected current rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman after trading out of the first round. After this season, the defense may be the primary focus, even though the attack has recently needed a change.

Players like Matt Milano, Rasul Douglas, DaQuan Jones, and Von Miller may only have one more season after 2024, if not less, given the condition of their defense. Von Miller is probably going to be the first of these four players to go (if Douglas is given a new contract extension). Miller was brought to Buffalo by the Bills in 2022 as the closer they were lacking. There has been no success with that signing, and the split is only a matter of time.

Draft of the Buffalo Bills In the most recent NFL mock draft for 2025, Von Miller was replaced.

In a startling 2025 NFL mock draft, Colorado native Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are selected in the top two, according to CBS Sports Writer Chris Trapasso. That won’t affect the Bills in any way, though. Trapasso predicts that the Bills will choose Arkansas edge rusher Landon Jackson in this mock draft.

It had to be something special:' How the Bills lured Von Miller away from Super Bowl-champion Rams

The Bills would be gaining a complementary player who can assist Greg Rousseau on the opposite side, since he is 6’7″ and weighs 280 pounds. A.J. Epenesa has been a reliable player for the Bills over the past two seasons, but he is hardly a long-term starter. Jackson’s draft selection adds youthful skill at a critical position.

Buffalo would be better off signing another pass-rusher to a low-cost rookie contract because Rousseau is already seeking a huge contract extension. With 13 sacks over the previous two seasons and the ability to bat down passes from the line of scrimmage, Jackson has been a reliable member of the Razorbacks.

Von Miller’s tenure in Buffalo is rapidly coming to an end. Bills supporters shouldn’t be surprised that his eventual replacement was drafted.
