ESPN: Bills sensational star opts against retirement, re-signs with Bills
Safety of free agents Micah Hyde joined the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad on Wednesday after re-signing with the organization.
Hyde, who was selected to the 2017 Pro Bowl, publicly considered retiring when his contract expired in 2023. In 2024, he didn’t sign with any other team.
“Just to set expectations, Micah is in a practice squad role,” stated Sean McDermott, coach of the Bills. Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Cole Bishop, and Kareem Jackson have all been performing admirably for us in their present jobs, so we have complete faith in them. Micah is in a practice squad capacity, and they will remain in those positions.”
Last season, Hyde, 33, played in 14 games (all starts) and collected 54 tackles with two interceptions.
In his 158 career games (128 starts) with the Green Bay Packers and Bills, he has amassed 644 tackles, 24 interceptions, five sacks, five forced fumbles, and eight fumble recoveries. In the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Packers drafted him.
