CBS Sports: Weeks before the playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles cut ties with the former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver.
With five games remaining in the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles, who are 10-2 going into Week 14, are one game behind the Detroit Lions (11-1) for the No. 1 spot in the NFC. For the fourth consecutive season and six of the previous seven, the Eagles seem poised to qualify for the playoffs.
Nick Sirianni, the head coach, deserves praise for turning things around in 2024. The Eagles defeated the Baltimore Ravens 24–19 on the road at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, demonstrating their competitiveness.
With just one month remaining in the regular season, the Eagles made an interesting roster change on Tuesday.
A wide receiver was released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia cut wide receiver John Ross from the practice squad and signed fullback Khari Blasingame, according to an Eagles statement.

Ross was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the ninth overall choice in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants. Ross came out of retirement in November 2023, despite having informed the Chiefs that he intended to retire in July 2023.
In 2023, John Ross was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ross could be able to return to Kansas City, which could use some of the Eagles’ trade secrets and extra receiving depth for the postseason. Although Ross did not attend the Chiefs’ training camp, his efforts during organized team activities may hasten his adjustment to Kansas City in 2024.
Ross played one game with Philadelphia and caught one ball for six yards before agreeing to a one-year contract with the Eagles in March.
Ross has made 38 appearances, 21 of which were starts. He’s hauled in 63 passes for 963 yards and 11 scores.
