CBS Sports: Eagles Punter Named the Special Team of the week.
Because of his performance against the Ravens, Eagles punter Braden Mann was awarded the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
With five of his six punts down inside the 20, two inside the 10, and one to the Ravens’ 1-yard line, Mann punted six times on Sunday for a net average of 51.2 yards.
In the Eagles’ 24-19 victory in Baltimore, Mann, 27, played a brilliant role in helping them win the field position game.
According to special teams coordinator Michael Clay, “it was outstanding.” “Braden performed a fantastic job. Everyone has, I’m sure, witnessed five out of six bets within the 20. Following the one with Sydney (Brown), you witnessed Kelee (Ringo) get down at the four. He performed a fantastic job.
“Braden has been doing admirably. After examining every detail, you conclude that “he’s just going to have a quiet year.” But when it comes to putting the ball where we can cover, where we can drop the ball, and helping the team in any way we can, he’s been doing a fantastic job for us.
“That defense with the three-and-out right there sort of ignited a little bit in one of those games that ended up being a field position game. The offense then scored on a short field after the punt. The way Braden was able to kind of ignite the special teams was amazing.
This is Mann’s first time winning Special Teams Player of the Week with the Eagles and his second overall. In 2022, he won Week 2 with the Jets as well.
Early in the 2023 season, Mann joined the Eagles to take Arryn Siposs’ position, who had been having trouble. Mann has cemented his spot in Philadelphia after playing well in his 27 games with the Eagles.
He is the first Eagles punter to earn Special Teams Player of the Week since Donnie Jones, the winner of Super Bowl LII in Week 13 of the 2013 season, and the third overall. Since Jones accomplished it against the Cardinals in that game that won the award, Mann is the first Eagles kicker to have five or more punts downed inside the 20 without a touchback.
Since Jake Elliott in Week 12 of the previous season, Mann is the first Eagle to win Special Teams Player of the Week. In 2024, he becomes the third Eagles player to get one of these honors:
