Tragic: Progressive Legendary King eventually declares his intention to cease performing, saying “No” to a reunion with Let’s Go Our Separate Ways.
Their previous tour was six years ago.
And since The Moody Blues last played together in 2018, it appears that this tour could be their last chance.
It appears that the band, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2024, is no longer in existence. They were one of the most ambitious and significant progressive rock outfits of the 1960s and 1970s.
The only remaining members of the band’s iconic lineup are vocalist Justin Hayward and John Lodge, after Mike Pinder passed away recently.
Given that they have been concentrating on their individual endeavors since 2018—the year they were admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame—it appears that this might be the case indefinitely.
When asked whether a reunion was in the works, Hayward gave a very direct response in a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, which was conducted in advance of his forthcoming solo tour in Blue World.
“I think it’s our time now to do what we want to do,” Hayward said to the publication.
In addition to discussing his next tour, Justin Hayward also gave some thought to his legendary history with the Moody Blues.
Nonetheless, he gave a forceful response when asked if he and Lodge, the band’s two surviving members, would ever perform together again.
“No,” he said right away. However, he was unable to provide a clear explanation when pressed to elaborate, adding: “Why? Matt, I’m not sure. That’s the truthful response. I’m not sure.”
Hayward did want to reaffirm that he and Lodge were still in a relationship.
He remarked, “Well, the whole Moody Blues thing is a kind of family, so it’s still there,” referring to their decades-long connection.
We’re involved in all of it, and it’s a family. When you say, “Hey, let’s go out to dinner tonight,” or “Let’s do that,” the group has never been a group of friends. However, everyone has a purpose.
In other parts of the conversation, Justin talked about the late Mike Pinder and how important he was to the Moody Blues’ success.
“Mike was a natural-born musician,” he stated. “At the moment, you don’t consider how significant these things are. You simply proceed and keep going.”
“Really, we had nothing to lose because we had nothing. We never considered that, I believe. What is anyone contributing to this?
“Mike could play the piano in a pub without anybody noticing. He would be playing while grinning up at you. That always struck me as being simply fantastic.
“I think his purpose was probably the same as mine, really, if we had a purpose.” Hayward went on. “Our main goals were to pay for the gas and find a place to sleep. However, we both desired to focus on original content rather than cover versions.
at late 2024, Justin Hayward’s Blue World tour will make its way to the UK, stopping at Tunbridge Wells, Aberdeen, and Bexhill-On-Sea.
