CBS Sports: Former Pro Bowl player signed by the Lions
Following the unfortunate loss of another starter, the Detroit Lions have added a previous Pro Bowl player to their roster.
The Lions have signed veteran linebacker Kwon Alexander, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. Alexander has been a member of the Denver Broncos’ practice squad.
While playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, Alexander tore his Achilles tendon. Before his injury, he had nine games with Pittsburgh and forty-one tackles. Alexander, who has made three appearances this season and has eight total tackles and a forced fumble, inked a practice-squad contract with the Broncos in September.
In 2017, Alexander was selected to the Pro Bowl while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since departing the Bucs following the 2018 season, he has played for six different teams, including the Lions.
Malcolm Rodriguez, a linebacker with the Lions, tore his ACL during Thursday’s victory over the Chicago Bears. After Derrick Barnes and Alex Anzalone sustained long-term injuries, Rodriguez started. Alexander might help bridge some of the gap, Detroit hopes.
