CBS Sports: The Cleveland Browns have added a sensational tight end ahead of Steelers game.
Blake Whiteheart, a tight end, has been promoted from the practice squad by the Cleveland Browns for their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team made the decision after ruling out tight end Geoff Swaim due to a concussion.
This season, Whiteheart has appeared in four Browns games. This season, he has caught three passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. In the first two years of his career, the Wake Forest product has appeared in six games.
Whiteheart, Jordan Akins, and David Njoku will now be the Browns’ three tight ends when they play the Steelers. Having at least three tight ends to execute those sets appeared crucial to the offense because the team still uses a lot of 12 players. It just wouldn’t have happened without Swaim.
This week’s game script may be run-heavy, which would occasionally allow the Browns to use a larger roster, especially because wind and snow are also predicted for the game.
