Anthony Rizzo - MLB Videos and Highlights | FOX Sports

This winter, the New York Yankees must fix a number of glaring gaps. It goes without saying that they must either find a method to replace Juan Soto with another outstanding outfield player or re-sign him, which is their goal. Beyond that, though, they have weaknesses in the pitching staff and on the right side of the infield. The Yankees will be hoping to add a much stronger option at first base after letting Anthony Rizzo go this offseason. Although there aren’t many good first basemen available, New York will try to sign one of the best.

Christian Walker, the first baseman for the Arizona Diamondbacks, was recently predicted by Nick Villano of FanSided to sign a free agent contract with the Bronx Bombers. Although he might be able to make more, Spotrac predicts that Walker will sign a three-year, $66 million contract in free agency. “The Yankees are in a unique position to acquire Walker. They are trying to replace a washed-up Anthony Rizzo and have DJ LeMahieu who is hoping to recover. All Walker would have to do is follow through on his prior actions,” Villano stated. “With Aaron Judge in the lineup, along with whoever is added over the next few months, the Yankees can give Walker everything he’s looking for and more.”

The Yankees would love to have Walker at first base. He would be a great addition to the Yankees’ payroll and infield. Walker would be a multi-time Gold Glove winner at first base for a team with poor defense.

But it will be hard to steal him from the Diamondbacks. This winter, Walker will probably be their first priority.
