CBS Sports: Raiders Are Significantly Disrespected by Davante Adams
Since the Davante Adams trade, neither the New York Jets nor the Las Vegas Raiders have had a successful season. The Jets are 1-4 and the Raiders are 0-6 since the deal was completed.
Despite the fact that neither team is likely to qualify for the playoffs this year, Adams expressed his satisfaction with his decision. He accomplished this by disparaging the Raiders in a really meaningful way.
Adams stated on the November 20 episode of “Up & Adams” that “whether it was the right thing to do or not, it was the right thing for me to come here and change scenery, and I think there’s no denying that things are different.” “When you look at the scenario I was in in Vegas and the situation I’m in here, the way this offense is, we haven’t won the games that we may have been expected to win or were expecting to win. … At the very least, I’m optimistic that we can do well in the upcoming game. I began to feel differently based on several factors in Las Vegas.
“Knowing that I came here and tried it at least helps me feel better because I’m not feeling helpless and hopeless.” I’m still working with someone who can still play ball at a high level and in whom I have a lot of faith. The main thing is that we just need to figure out how to perform better and more reliably.
Why Davante Adams’ Remarks Are Dubious
Given how awful the Jets are, it doesn’t seem necessary for Adams to keep making unwarranted jabs at the Raiders. Why the wide receiver feels less forlorn is hard to comprehend.
He caught 18 passes for 209 yards in three Las Vegas games this season. He has 26 receptions for 278 yards in five Jets games. Compared to the Raiders, he is averaging less yards each game in New York.
Furthermore, it’s not as though the Jets are a far more successful team than the Raiders. Since 2010, they have not participated in the playoffs. In that period, the Raiders have made two trips to the postseason. Adams is attempting to save face after placing the incorrect wager. For the remainder of the season, it would likely be best for him to avoid appearing on the talk programs.
What Will Happen to Adams Next?
Adams’ prospects of getting inducted into the Hall of Fame will be severely harmed by a string of bad choices. In 2022, he probably shouldn’t have left the Green Bay Packers for the Raiders. He ought to have pushed to join a team like the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens rather than the Jets when he realized things weren’t working in Las Vegas.
Adams would try to leave New York this offseason if he were smart. It’s difficult to believe he would want to play for a team that isn’t a contender when he turns 32 at the beginning of the next season. If he does leave, he probably won’t be looking at a big salary given his performance and behavior this season.
