CBS Sports: The Raiders announce Gardner Minshew following their sixth straight defeat.
There is no indication that the Las Vegas Raiders’ schedule will get any easier as they are currently in the midst of a six-game losing streak. To find a spark, the team has experimented with a few different strategies, such as switching up the offensive staff or forcing a quarterback to shift positions several times. But the team hasn’t yet found a workable approach that has enabled them to turn things around.
Winning games will only hinder the team’s prospects of obtaining a high draft choice, even though head coach Antonio Pierce may be coaching for his job in the latter stages. Before the team’s Week 11 defeat to the Miami Dolphins, the head coach said last week that quarterback Gardner Minshew gave them the best chance to win. Nevertheless, it’s been very evident that Minshew isn’t performing as the Raiders had intended. Pierce stated on Monday that he will be starting against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, despite his difficulties, and that they wanted to give him a fair chance going forward.
According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, Aidan O’Connell won’t be able to be taken off of injured reserve until the next week. With a 39.1 QBR and over 1,700 yards thrown, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions, Minshew has had a difficult season protecting the ball.
