CBS Sports: Las Vegas Raiders Select an Elite quarterback In the most recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
Last offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders decided against pursuing a top-tier quarterback. They also decided without selecting a signal-caller in the 2024 NFL Draft, instead selecting journeyman Gardner Minshew and second-year player Aidan O’Connell as their quarterbacks. Las Vegas is 2-7 until the middle of November, and their offense only manages to score 18.7 points per game. Three-stringer Desmond Ridder, O’Connell, and Minshew have combined for nine passing touchdowns against 10 picks.
The Raiders’ quarterbacking issues are widely known. According to a well-known media source, the AFC West squad will use the 2025 NFL Draft to solve its offensive problems. The Raiders are predicted by The 33rd Team to choose Colorado football star Shedeur Sanders with the fifth overall pick.
The 2025 NFL Draft Sees the Las Vegas Raiders Select an Elite FBS QB
The 33rd Team claims on Twitter:
Picks 1–8 in the 2025 NFL Mock Draft:
Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Jacksonville Jaguars | Colorado
Cam Ward, quarterback, New York Giants | Miami
Tetairoa McMillian, wide receiver, Tennessee Titans | Arizona
Will Johnson, CB, Cleveland Browns | Michigan
Shedeur Sanders, quarterback, Las Vegas Raiders | Colorado
Mason Graham, OL, Miami Dolphins | Michigan
Will Campbell, OL, New England Patriots | LSU
Abdul Carter, LB, New Orleans Saints | Penn State
The 33rd Team predicts that the Las Vegas Raiders will choose Colorado football star quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the fifth pick in a 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Cam Ward, a quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes who is a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, is the first quarterback off the board after the New York Giants choose him second overall. Sanders leads the Big 12 in completion percentage (73%), passer rating (163.1), and throwing touchdowns (24). Against the Utah Utes on Saturday, Sanders completed 30 of 41 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Colorado prevailed 49–24.
After two straight seasons of offensive setbacks, the Las Vegas Raiders are in dire need of a quarterback change. When longtime starting signal-caller Derek Carr left in 2023, Las Vegas didn’t get much information about Jimmy Garoppolo, who took his place. Aidan O’Connell, a Purdue product who started ten games and threw 12 touchdowns against seven picks, was the Raiders’ choice to start him for the majority of the season. But this season, he has only managed two touchdowns against two picks, and Gardner Minshew, Garoppolo’s successor, has had an equally difficult season.
