CBS Sports: Detroit Lions LB departed Sunday’s game due to a serious injury.
News regarding Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone’s injury: he departed Sunday’s game due to a forearm injury.
In Week 11, the Detroit Lions were crushing the Jacksonville Jaguars, but just before the first half ended, they might have sustained a serious injury. Linebacker Alex Anzalone took a friendly-fire shot from Brian Branch while attempting to make a tackle by the Lions sideline and remained on the field for a number of minutes.
After a while, medical personnel helped stabilize Anzalone’s arm and he was led to the locker room. Anzalone was initially listed by the Lions as questionable to return due to a forearm injury. Nevertheless, Anzalone was seen on tape mouthing the phrase “it’s broke.”
As of halfway, the team has not ruled him out, so let’s not make any snap judgments just yet.
Nevertheless, because of their recent injury woes, the Lions are in a difficult position at linebacker. Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck) is on injured reserve for at least two more games, and Derrick Barnes (knee) is probably done for the season due to a knee ailment. Detroit’s 53-man roster now only has five healthy linebackers: Ezekiel Turner, Trevor Nowaske, Ben Niemann, Jack Campbell, and Malcolm Rodriguez.
As soon as we learn more about his condition, we’ll update this site.
