ESPN: Bills Sign in a Sensational WR in a Blockbuster Deal Ahead of Trade Deadline
Two roster additions have been announced to the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad.
Buffalo waived kicker Lucas Havrisik and added wide receiver Deon Cain to the practice squad.
Cain recorded three receptions for 28 yards against the Panthers while on the Bills’ preseason roster.
After graduating from Clemson in 2018, he was first selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round (at pick 185). During his NFL career, he has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He has 124 yards and six starts in 15 games over his career.
In the USFL, Cain was a member of the Birmingham Stallions, where he caught three touchdowns and was MVP in the 2023 USFL Championship game. Cain was born in Tampa, Florida.
A Veteran of the Bills Wants to Trade
The Buffalo Bills are in the top 10 in terms of points scored and points allowed, are 6-2, and lead the AFC East by four games. However, not everyone in the company is content.
One of the Bills’ experienced players seems ready for a new run somewhere as they get ready for their Week 9 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, which may increase their division lead by an unbeatable five games. In his weekly “NFL buzz” piece, ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler stated, “Veteran Buffalo safety Mike Edwards is available and would like to go somewhere he can play (he has been a steady inactive).”
After the Bills restructured their defensive backfield in March, two-time Super Bowl champion Edwards, who had started 28 games in his career going into the 2024 season, agreed to a one-year contract.
Protections The Bills attempted to acquire a younger and faster player for the position, but Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer both left for free agency. However, the veteran has been affected by the lack of playing time as Edwards has been a healthy scratch for the majority of the regular season.
And if it can help another club win, he seems more than willing to try to arrange a relocation outside of the Buffalo area.
