CBS Sports: Jerry Jones Openly Discusses the Cowboys’ NFL Trade Deadline Strategy

Jerry Jones is not afraid to voice his thoughts on important Dallas Cowboys matters. Fans learned about this on Tuesday during an episode of 105.3 The Fan. He also expressed his disapproval when asked questions regarding subjects he felt didn’t need to be covered. Although Jones’s on-air comment regarding the team’s lack of summer activities went viral, he also discussed that and a few other subjects with Dianna Russini of The Athletic immediately after. Sadly, for Cowboys supporters who were hopeful Jones would make a change before the trade deadline on November 5, it appears like another quiet period lies ahead.

Jones stated that the Cowboys won’t be playing before the trade deadline, as Russini disclosed on X. Jones allegedly gave a three-word response when asked directly if the organization would strive to strengthen the roster by making any transactions before the deadline.

Jones stated, “Not thinking that,” according to The Athletic. Despite Jones’ legendary declaration that the Cowboys “will be all-in” over the summer, Dallas was among the NFL’s quietest clubs when free agency arrived. Although he’s not going to go all the way with remarks he makes about the team’s prospects before the trade deadline, Cowboys supporters will be irritated by these remarks. Dallas recently suffered a devastating 47-9 home loss to the Detroit Lions, ending a two-game winning streak and putting a stop to any burgeoning optimism about the squad.

The Cowboys, who are currently 3-3 heading into their bye week, have a difficult road ahead of them with five games remaining against the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and Washington Commanders.
