CBS Sports: Jets Land the 49ers All-Pro in an “Absurd” Trade Proposal for Peanuts.
The sea is home to other fish.
The New York Jets may go to a different pass catcher if they are unable to acquire wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders through trade.
Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon suggested a number of “absurd” trade scenarios that NFL teams ought to consider “instead of [a] Davante Adams move.”
Received by the New York Jets is wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
The San Francisco 49ers are awarded a third-round draft selection in 2025.
“The Jets should go for Davante Adams if they’re really all in. However, Samuel would be a fantastic backup option because he established his reputation as a dynamic player in the open field. Since Rodgers isn’t as successful when passing downfield these days, finding an elusive playmaker could be a huge help. The good ol’ change of scenery might do Samuel some good, too, Kenyon added. “San Francisco, which might be okay without Samuel if veterans [Brandon] Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings produce and rookie first-rounder Ricky Pearsall develops, could receive one of New York’s two 2025 third-round selections.”
Samuel Almost Made It to the Jets in a Previous Trade with the 49ers
The Jets were hard to miss in the 2022 NFL Draft when they went after a high-profile wide receiver.
Two of the top players the Jets had their eye on were Tyreek Hill and Deebo Samuel. Miami Dolphins were Hill’s preference over the Jets. Gang Green attempted to approach, but San Francisco turned them down.
The 49ers accepted a trade package from the Jets for Samuel that includes the No. 10 overall choice in the first round of the 2022 draft, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The Jets chose to remain with and select after they said no. Garrett Wilson from Ohio State was the final member of Gang Green. It’s funny how things turn out.
Two years later, the Jets may acquire Samuel for a small fraction of what it would have cost them two years prior, at least according to this trade proposal.
Because of their draft-day agreement with the Detroit Lions back in April, the green and white got an additional third-round pick.
The rookie for the Jets hasn’t lived up to the high expectations
This offseason, trade rumors involving Samuel were raised once more. Some thought Samuel may be the trustworthy Batman the Jets were looking for, replacing Garrett Wilson.
