Brandin Cooks out Sunday, maybe longer, with 'knee issue'

For the next four games at least, the Dallas Cowboys will be without a significant portion of their offensive line.

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks was placed on injured reserve by the Cowboys on Saturday. Cooks is battling an infection in his right knee following what was supposed to be a standard operation.

Cooks’ injury will keep him out of action until at least Week 9.

Cooks’ numbers have been slightly constrained by the team’s rather inconsistent system, even though he was slated to play as the Dallas offensive’s No. 2 wide receiver. Despite having a comparable target share, Jalen Tolbert has fared much better than Cooks and is expected to continue playing a major role as long as Cooks is gone.

On Sunday night, the Cowboys will play the Steelers in Pittsburgh, and they won’t have many players available.

Jerry Jones showed up to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice on Wednesday with an air of authority. He acts.

The Cowboys owner landed his chopper on the turf practice field to make his way to his team’s practice. The helicopter featured the star emblem of the Dallas Cowboys on the back, and Dak Prescott, the quarterback, was seen feigning to pass to Jones.

The 81-year-old is known for his love of attention and ability to generate publicity, and he did not disappoint in that regard on Wednesday. However, his football team isn’t where he wants them to be right now. Dallas is 2-2 and visits the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. The Cowboys are also dealing with injuries to defensive standouts Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. That was the first time many had seen Jones make the grand entrance to his team’s practice.
