CBS Sports: Falcons’ favorites player Kirk Cousins send a strong message to the Bucs after win
In the Atlanta Falcons’ 36-30 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday, quarterback Kirk Cousins turned in one of his greatest games to date. Eighty-five minutes into the overtime period, Cousins hooked up with KhaDarel Hodge for the game-winning 45-yard touchdown pass. He completed 42 of 58 passes for 509 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.
The Falcons trailed 27-20 going into the fourth quarter, but Cousins led a touchdown drive that tied the score less than two minutes in, and three possessions later, Atlanta made the game-winning field goal as the clock ran out. Following the game, Cousins acknowledged to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe that he found motivation from an unexpected source to help rally the Falcons from the verge of defeat.
“I love the nest over here, the crowd – they’re never down,” Cousins replied. “It doesn’t matter what the score is—they’re bringing it. And I adore the fourth-quarter tune, “Swag Surf.” It energizes me and our audience, and I’ve been enjoying this atmosphere for the past two weeks.
After defeating the Bucs, the cousins entertained the audience. He was captured on camera performing the “Swag Surf” dance, which the presenters found hilarious. Cousins’s post-game antics have gone viral. His most famous moment occurred while he was a member of the Washington Commanders, when, after a significant victory, he exclaimed at reporters, “You like that?” The “Swag Surf” dance was just as spontaneous as that particular moment, but it was much more fun and lacked the same shock-and-awe element.
