CBS Sports: Eagles Close in to Sign Raiders former sensational Pro Bowl Wide Receiver in a blockbuster deal.
The receiving group for the Philadelphia Eagles is getting smaller every week. Due to a hamstring ailment, All-Pro A.J. Brown has missed two games and is set to miss his third straight this week against Tampa Bay. In the game against the New Orleans Saints, DaVonta Smith had a concussion that will prevent him from playing this week, while Britain Covey broke his collarbone and is now on injured reserve. On the depth chart, it leaves Parris Campbell, Johnny Wilson, and Jahan Dotson.
An article published by Bleacher Report made the suggestion that the Eagles would benefit from hiring a former Pro Bowl receiver. “Hunter Renfrow was a Pro Bowler in 2021, a season he finished with 103 catches for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns,” according to Bleacher Report. “He’s a reliable pass-catcher with an ability to find space and some inside-outside versatility, though he has done his best work out of the slot.”
Even after Brown and Smith are back in the starting lineup, B/R believes that they might still contribute depth, big plays, and support on special teams.
We won’t fight against any of that; Renfrow might provide the Eagles a spark in the attack and cover a few gaps in the lineup. But now that he’s settled into the couch, Renfrow seems quite content. Is he not signed elsewhere if he is such a solution?
This week, Philadelphia plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; the next week, they are off. The boys can recuperate after the break and get ready for Week 6 at the ideal time. On Sunday, the game will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
