Indianapolis: Josiah Bronson, a defensive lineman, and Derek Rivers, a defensive end, were signed by the Indianapolis Colts to the practice squad today. Additionally, the team removed cornerback Kelvin Joseph off the practice squad and placed quarterback Jason Bean on the Practice Squad Injured list.

With the New England Patriots (2024), Miami Dolphins (2022–23), Dallas Cowboys (2021–22), Cleveland Browns (2021), and New Orleans Saints (2021), Bronson, who is 6-3 and 295 pounds, has participated in eight career games. Twelve total tackles—eight solo—and one tackle for loss have been recorded by him. On May 10, 2021, the Saints signed Bronson out of Washington as an undrafted free agent.

Rivers, a 6 foot 5 inch, 250 pound player, took part in an Indianapolis 2024 training camp. During his tenure with the Colts (2023–24), Houston Texans (2021–23), Los Angeles Rams (2020), and New England Patriots (2017–20), he has participated in 24 career games (one of which he has started). Rivers has logged 3.5 sacks, 5.0 tackles for loss, and 16 tackles—11 of which were solo.

In addition, he has made three appearances in postseason games and recorded one special teams tackle. The Patriots originally selected Rivers, a 2017 NFL Draft product out of Youngstown State, in the third round (83rd overall).

Bean, 6-2, 196 pounds, was signed to the team’s practice squad on August 28, 2024, after participating in the Colts’ offseason program and training camp. On May 9, 2024, Indianapolis signed him as an undrafted free agent.

 

Josiah Bronson, Washington, Defensive Line

During his time as a college player, Bean participated in 51 games (30 starts) for North Texas (2018–20) and Kansas (2021-23), completing 414 of 699 passes for 5,969 yards, 55 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions.

In addition, he totaled 14 touchdowns and 1,344 yards (5.4 average) on 251 carries. In 12 games (10 starts) in 2023, Bean saw action. He completed 124 out of 199 passes for 2,130 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. In addition, he gained 280 yards (6.0 average.) and three touchdowns on 47 carries.
