CBS Sports: Green Bay Packers’ key player ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
The Green Bay Packers’ official inactive list for Jordan Love puts a stop to any expectations he may return from his injury against the Tennessee Titans.
Love injured his MCL in Week 1 against the Eagles in Brazil, but he returned to practice this week and took snaps, raising hopes that he would be ready to play in Week 3.
As a result of his current injury, backup Malik Willis, who led the team to victory against the Colts in Week 2, will start the game against his old team.
Despite Love’s dubious performance over the week and his Thursday snaps in pads, it has been decided to bench him for another week.
Week 4’s matchup between the Packers and the rival Vikings is seen to benefit from having him at full strength for such a significant occasion.
Against the Colts last week, Willis had a successful debut. He completed 122 yards of passing and one touchdown while also gaining 41 yards through rushes.
The 25-year-old will play this week against the team that selected him in the 2022 draft.
After going down the board and being selected with the 86th overall pick, Willis made his debut in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. He was later named a starter in Week 8, but he struggled the rest of the season.
In 2023, he started just three games and was traded to the Packers in August of this year for a seventh-round draft pick. Now, he will have another chance to make an impression in Tennessee.
