Injury Report: Jets’ sensational key star sidelined for weeks with injury following TNF win against Patriots.
On Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets defeated the New England Patriots in a thrilling fashion to improve to 2-1 on the season. Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback, performed admirably, completing 281 yards of passing with two touchdowns to lead the team to a 24-3 victory.
Despite creating a stir on both ends of the field, the Jets’ offensive line sustained a serious injury. Morgan Moses, an offensive tackle, fell down in the second half, and it looks like he will be out for at least two weeks due to his injury. NFL insider Jordan Schultz states that “Source: #Jets RT Last night, Morgan Moses hurt his knee, which will probably keep him out of action for a few weeks at least. Given how it first appeared, surgery would be the best-case scenario, but it is doubtful that he will require it. The team is hopeful that the injury is not as serious as it first appeared, but more testing is needed to be sure.”
Moses will be out of commission for a few weeks due to a knee injury. The good news is that he won’t need to go on injured reserve, thus he can return before the four weeks that players placed on injured reserve are allowed to return.
Moses is a member of the strong offensive line that kept Aaron Rodgers safe the whole game, enabling him to throw the ball down the field with ease. Although Schultz also mentioned that the Jets intend to start Olu Fashanu, a first-round pick, at right tackle in place of Moses until he recovers, the loss of Moses will undoubtedly impact the line. In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Penn State wide receiver Fashanu with the 11th overall pick. It was hoped that Fashanu would be able to take the field sooner rather than later, and in Week 4, that opportunity will present itself.
Moses has a good amount of time to recover because the Jets’ game against the Broncos is scheduled for September 29. He might still not be prepared to put on his outfit. In order to give the youthful Fashanu enough time to receive starting reps, head coach Robert Saleh may also wish to give Moses time to heal entirely. The Jets’ next game is against the Minnesota Vikings on September 29. Perhaps this is the time that Moses comes back. But, Fashanu might find himself starting on the offensive line going forward if he performs the way the Jets think he can.
