Former BYU football running back Chris Brooks now has a 53-man roster spot with the Green Bay Packers thanks to an injury to MarShawn Lloyd.

On Tuesday, September 17, the Packers added Brooks to their active roster.

On May 12, 2023, Brooks inked a contract with the Miami Dolphins. As a rookie, he saw action in nine games and gained 106 yards on 19 carries. During the 2024 training camp, he was released by the Dolphins and signed to the Packers practice squad.

On Sunday, September 22, Green Bay will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to play the Titans.

Prior to attending college, Brooks excelled as a student at El Camino High School. The product of Oceanside, California, played for the Golden Bears from 2018 to 21 while attending the University of California, Berkeley.

During his last season at California, Brooks gained 607 yards and four touchdowns from 116 rushes.

Brooks ran the ball 382 times for 1,734 yards and 14 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Bears. Out of the backfield, Brooks caught 50 passes for 345 yards and seven scores. While playing with the Bears, Brooks gained 4.5 yards per run on average. He participated in 41 Cal games.

Brooks moved to BYU after the 2021 campaign.

In his lone season with the Cougars, Brooks served as an alternate captain. Despite only logging 130 rushes for 817 yards and six touchdowns, the senior standout for BYU’s offense. In addition, he caught 10 passes for 98 yards.

In the New Mexico Bowl, BYU defeated SMU 19 times through 19 runs for 88 yards and a touchdown.

For the Cougars, Brooks had 11 appearances, eight of which were starts. When he played football for BYU, he averaged 6.3 yards per run.
