The Colts will have to rely on standout Kwity Paye and others to step up if Buckner is forced to miss any time. Indianapolis has started the season 0-2 and hasn’t had a fantastic start to the season.

In Week 3, they will face the Bears, a game that could be advantageous for them given that Chicago will be led by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Although it could be in their best advantage to wait him out, the hope is that Buckner can play.

The Colts don’t want this ailment to worsen or to keep coming up to games. His absence might be devastating since throughout the years, he has been one of their defensive unit’s more effective members.

For the Colts, Buckner has eight sacks in each of the last two seasons and 81 total tackles in the previous campaign. He has grown to be a favorite in Indianapolis because of his amazing ability to get into the backfield and disrupt an attack.

The Colts’ run defense might worsen in Buckner’s absence. They gave Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon 159 yards in Week 1. They let up 151 yards on the ground to Packers running back Josh Jacobs in the aftermath of that terrible performance.

The Colts must ensure they can stop Chicago’s rushing attack when they play them. This season, Chicago has had trouble running the ball, only managing 84 yards on the ground in Week 1 and 71 in Week 2.

With or without Bucker on the field, this could be an opportunity for the Colts to gain some momentum as they try to secure their first victory of the season.
