At Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, during the Tampa Bay Bucs’ 20-16 victory over the Detroit Lions, there were growing tensions. Even though there was some tension between the two squads, what followed was far worse. Two persons were shot after a brawl broke out at well-liked tailgate location Eastern Market at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Following a fight between the two guys outside Shed 6, Detroit Police Chief James White reported that one person had died and the other was critically injured.

One of the men took out a gun and fired two bullets as the other lifted his hands in a combat posture. White reportedly said, “tailgating, drinking, and guns,” according to the Detroit Free Press. “They don’t combine. This isn’t how it should have ended.” White added that a 30-year-old suspect who was licensed to carry a gun had been taken into custody. At the scene, two firearms were found. After being shot, the man the gunman was battling killed, and a second Detroit native, who was in his 20s, was taken to the hospital.

“You’ve got unfortunately two people shot, one dead,” White said. “And you have a suspect that’s in custody, that’s, you know, going to be dealing with some very serious charges…likely murder.” According to reports, White attributed the massacre to our culture’s obsession with firearms.
