CBS Sport: Steelers sign in Jaguars mega star in a blockbuster deal to bolster their defensive backfield.
Terrell Edmunds, a safety, was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in an attempt to bolster their defensive backfield. In 2018, the Steelers selected the former Virginia Tech Hokie in the first round of the draft.
Before departing in free agency prior to the 2018 season, he started for the majority of his first five years with the Steelers. Midway through the season, he was traded to the Tennessee Titans after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After being cut down on cut down day, he signed on to the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars and later received a contract to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Coach Mike Tomlin gave a justification of Edmunds’ selection to the media.
“That man is acquainted with us. A man we’ve met,” Tomlin remarked. “You can never have too many of those situations during this thing, especially at this point in the journey. Although there might not be a pressing demand at this time, things might change in a few weeks.
And that’s really—if you will—in the same vein as our business dealings with Cam Sutton. We have folks that we know are capable of supporting us, who we know fit and who comprehend this situation.”
In Week 1, the Steelers defense shut down the Atlanta Falcons attack. This team can only get better with the guys they are adding. Edmunds is in the height of his powers at just 27 years old.
The Steelers have always prioritized defense above all else. Pittsburgh will only gain in the long run from this addition. This Sunday, Pittsburgh will travel to Denver to play the Broncos. The game is set to begin at 4:25 p.m. ET.
