Packers 2021 Free Agents: Return of Kevin King will depend on the outside market - Acme Packing Company

Kevin King, a cornerback, will start for the Atlanta Falcons against the Pittsburgh Steelers after being elevated from practice. Following the late-week groin injury suffered by veteran Antonio Hamilton Sr., King will step up to assist on special teams and provide depth at cornerback. King will play as the team’s No. 5 cornerback and gunner after Hamilton was ruled out of the game status report.

King, who the Green Bay Packers selected with the 33rd overall choice in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Washington, is a member of the Falcons practice squad after rejoining the team and spending the whole summer in the locker room. Due to an Achilles tendon rupture sustained during preseason training, he was sidelined for the whole 2023 season.

Former Packers CB Kevin King, out of football since 2021, signs with Falcons

Since 2021, he has not participated in an NFL game. He missed the 2022 season in order to recuperate from a number of bothersome injuries. King has worked hard to get back to this stage, but this will be his first game in over three years.

He played for the Packers for his first five seasons of his career before leaving, but the Falcons are his first team since then. He chose to forego signing a new deal after choosing to sit out the full 2022 campaign in order to heal from ailments.
