J.T. Realmuto, the catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, departed the team’s Friday game against the Miami Marlins due to a bruise on his left knee.

Before hitting his second run-scoring single of the game, Realmuto was hurt fouling a pitch off his knee in the second inning. He continued to play until the Phillies were up 7 to 0 in the fourth inning and Garrett Stubbs came in as a pinch hitter.

With a 16-2 victory, Philadelphia kept a 7 1/2-game lead in the National League East.

Realmuto missed June 10–July 19 due to a right knee injury.

In 86 games this season, Realmuto, 33, is batting.266 with a.322 on-base percentage, a.425 slugging percentage, 12 home runs, and 40 RBIs.
