CBS Sport: Jets key player ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
Before facing the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 season opener, the New York Jets have one more session to prepare for, and there is another player who will be missing time.
According to the Jets’ injury report status, former fifth-round rookie Zaire Barnes missed practice on Friday due to an ankle ailment.
The coaching staff of New York has faith in Barnes, a sixth-round pick from 2023, who has grown into a potent special teams player.
Wes Schweitzer, another injured Jet, missed practice for the second day in a row due to a hand ailment.
For New York on Friday, Mike Williams, Tyron Smith, Max Mitchell, Xavier Newman, and Jarrick Bernard-Converse all practiced in full. The Jets have a reasonably healthy starting lineup heading into their Week 1 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers’ only players who did not practice on Friday were Dee Winters and Yetur Gross-Matos.
Both the Jets and their opponent in Week 1 are as healthy as they can be heading into the new campaign as they wait on Haason Reddick to arrive.
