CBS Sport: Bengals mega star ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
The wide receiver room for the Cincinnati Bengals has seen a turbulent offseason characterized by demands for contracts, trade requests, and departures from free agency.
With only a few days remaining before the 2024 NFL season begins, the Bengals must now handle the injury of a significant player in the wide receiver room.
In an excerpt from today’s practice, Bengals beat reporter Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer and USA Today stated that Tee Higgins was not practicing with the team despite appearing on the injury report on Thursday as a limited participant because of a hamstring injury. All of the team’s wide receivers were on a different field catching passes from the quarterbacks.
Given the recent drama surrounding fellow standout receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who recently returned to practice following a months-long hold-in as he battles for a new deal, this issue becomes very important to watch.
Higgins wanted a trade and a long-term deal earlier in the summer, but he was not granted his wish. As a result, he will play this season under the franchise tag, which will pay him slightly over $21.8 million.
There was a lot more pressure on Higgins to perform because Chase hasn’t been seen on the field throughout the preseason and there are a lot of questions about his status going into the regular season. This is especially true because he will be hoping to have a strong year to earn that new contract.
