Breaking news: Jets close in to sign 49ers’ sensational QB in a blockbuster deal.
The New York Jets will finally return to the football field on Monday night when they play the San Francisco 49ers, capping up an extended offseason. When a team returns to practice for training camp, it usually takes weeks for them to get back in condition for Week 1, but Jets coach Robert Saleh says his team has been prepared from the beginning.
“I’ll speak for everyone in the organization when I say I think we were all ready to play after the first week of training camp,” Saleh said. “You’re constantly itching to get to the action and the good stuff. Training camp is exciting, but it ends in a few weeks, so I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we’re all looking forward to it.”
With a goal of qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2010, the Jets have particularly high hopes going into 2024. The squad is ready to contend in the AFC with quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning fully healthy following a torn achilles in 2023 and the addition of several free agents on both sides of the field. The team may be prepared, but like in previous years, their biggest obstacle this coming season will probably be maintaining their health. But if they can hold onto their key players, they might be fighting for more in January than just a postseason berth.
On Monday night, the Jets take on the 49ers in San Francisco at 8:15 p.m. EST.
