CBS sport: Steelers sign in three top NFL veterans in a blockbuster deal.
Even though the 53-man roster was only recently finalized, teams will still make movements in advance of the start of the regular season. The practice squad is where the Pittsburgh Steelers have added the most recent players.
The Steelers have added three veterans, according Adam Schefter of ESPN. The additions to the Steelers’ roster include former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Johnson, former Los Angeles Rams receiver Ben Skowronek, and former Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott.
Considering that the Steelers still have a need for receiving reinforcements going into the season, it is not unexpected to see them double up on the position. This gives the impression that Skowronek and Johnson, one or both, may eventually be called up to the 53-man roster.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still thinking about possible free-agent acquisitions as they get ready for the upcoming season, even after they reduced their roster to the 53-man limit earlier this week.
Four players who the Steelers brought in for a workout on Thursday are among the most recent possible acquisitions. The Steelers tested out offensive lineman Nouredin Nouili, defensive ends Adetokunbo Ogundeji and Kenneth Odumegwu, and safety Ayo Oyelola, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.
It’s unclear if the Steelers were thinking about adding these individuals to the practice squad or the 53-man roster. Still, the Steelers are at least keeping an eye on possible additions.
