CBS sport: Denver Broncos’ sensational WR signed a blockbuster deal with Bills.
On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills signed Denver Broncos receiver Jalen Virgil to their practice squad, giving them some playmaking ability.
Virgil, who played with the Broncos for the first two seasons after joining them as an undrafted free agent in 2022 out of Appalachian State, has been at Mile High. But an injury kept him out of the 2023 campaign the whole time.
In the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers last year, the 26-year-old product of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was tackled just short of the goal line, resulting in a ruptured meniscus. After surgery, he was put on injured reserve, meaning he would miss the entire season.
Despite all, Bills injury expert Dr. Kyle remains optimistic due to Virgil’s damage and the operation he expects to correct.
“Coming off his meniscus repair, it is promising that the Bills value his speed and know that he is healthy enough to contribute,” said Trimble. Meniscus repair, as opposed to meniscectomy, is a longer-term, safer approach that lowers the risk of developing knee arthritis.
Although I haven’t come across any evidence suggesting that athletes who have had meniscal repairs perform less well, it is encouraging to know that he is a year past his injury.” If Virgil gets back to his previous level of play, the Bills might have discovered a hidden gem.
In his brief time on an NFL field, he has only recorded two receptions for 75 yards; but, in November 2022, he took one of those grabs 66 yards for the score against the Tennessee Titans, which is the second-longest touchdown by a Broncos player in their professional debut.
