Following the race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, three NASCAR Xfinity teams were punished for problems with their rear bumper coverings.
Twenty driver and owner points and five playoff points were penalized to the No. 27 Jordan Anderson team, driven by driver Jeb Burton; the No. 28 RSS Racing team, driven by Kyle Sieg; and the No. 45 Alpha Prime Racing team, driven by Caesar Bacarella. Additionally, the crew chiefs Kase Kallenbach, Joe Williams, and Shane Whitbeck, all 27 years old, were penalized $25,000.
Infractions of NASCAR rule book sections 14.4.A and 14.4.11 C&D were noted in the penalty report. The body and bumper cover expansions at superspeedway events are mentioned in those sections.
