Breaking news: With a single deal, the Bears set to trade favorite star to the Raiders in resolving their quarterback issue.
It really is that simple!
The week when NFL teams persuade themselves that guys who weren’t talented enough to make a roster on another team would actually work out for them is that delightful time of the year. They were just not properly coached up! Furthermore, despite being listed as CB6 for the third preseason game, they showed glimpses of brilliance on a few occasions when facing the FCS school’s standout collegiate quarterback.
What if we attempted it with the Raiders and their quarterbacks instead? [Taps earpiece] Oh, we have been there already? for a duration of two months? And it won’t likely end until March of next year? Football is back!
I suppose the most recent Raiders-Bears trade concept is okay.
Ted Nguyen of The Athletic, who appears to be more focused on the Raiders than other teams in the league (which is fantastic because his film study material is excellent), is the source of the idea and the single tweet. When Nguyen noticed the Raiders having two backup quarterback choices, he wondered what would happen if they suddenly had THREE?
Yes, of course! A hypothetical trade concept involving Tyson Bagent and a fourth round pick on Twitter is one of those things that’s really hard to feel strongly about, but I’m all for it none the less. I’m all for it if it puts an end to Bears supporters’ fantasy that Bagent will become the next Kirk Cousins. Adding a third replacement-level quarterback capable of dethroning Davante Adams would be a much more exciting proposition than the countless disputes that are sure to ensue around who QB should replace Davante Adams.
The Raiders ought to gather every backup quarterback in the league, in actuality. It would be interesting to watch what would happen if they performed a bizarre piece of performance art in which a different backup played every quarter. They might introduce the bullpen revolution to football and permanently alter how the game is played. For Tyson Bagent alone.
