Breaking: Former Steelers headache and Super Bowl winner set to rejoin the team.

Why Patriots cut JuJu Smith-Schuster, explained by head coach Jerod Mayo - Pats Pulpit

Should they be unable to sign Aiyuk, the Steelers may turn to the former “social media star” receiver as a backup.

Trade speculations that the Steelers were nearing a deal to acquire Brandon Aiyuk have been swirling for almost a week. At their training camp, the standout wide receiver for the 49ers had been holding out. Although a contract hasn’t been finalized between him and the 49ers yet, optimism has grown over the last several days.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, San Francisco has upped their offer and reopened negotiations with Aiyuk’s camp. Before it reaches the finish line, there are still hiccups in the proposed extension. As of right now, there have been rumors that the problem might involve guaranteed funds and an additional year of the extension.

Pittsburgh is still in the running because they have an agreed-upon trade with the 49ers, but they need to wait to hear from San Francisco before making the move official. A contract extension with Aiyuk is also included in this potential transfer. According to Ian Rapoport, the trade and Aiyuk extension would proceed quickly if the 49ers gave their consent.

JuJu Smith-Schuster will be released by Patriots

Aiyuk has been more visible at 49ers practices in the last few days, leading many to believe that he could work out a deal with his current squad.

If that’s the case, the Steelers will have to start over in the hopes of acquiring a better wide receiver. Although it may not be to everyone’s taste, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player recently become available.

It is possible that JuJu Smith-Schuster will rejoin the Pittsburgh Steelers.

JuJu Smith-Schuster last appeared on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers three years ago. In 2022, he switched teams and became a Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs. After free agency, he received a large salary. The New England Patriots signed him. Although they took a chance, their marriage did not succeed.

In New England, he was unable to generate the same kind of figures that he could elsewhere. Before long, his contract became a burden, and both parties concluded it was time to let go. On August 9, the Patriots released him. Due to his past ties, many predicted that he would sign with the Steelers or Chiefs after his release.

Smith-Schuster hasn’t been the same since suffering a shoulder injury that prevented him from playing for most of his final season in Pittsburgh. He was viewed as an innocent child who was adored by all when he first began his profession. His continual diversion from the football game rapidly earned him contempt from many Steelers supporters.

His social media presence got to be so much of an issue that it began to appear in the game itself. At one point, a lot of people believed he may be Pittsburgh’s next big receiver, but after his departure, most Steelers fans were left with bad memories due to injuries and personal problems. As desperation set in, Pittsburgh was able to put aside his previous headaches.

Since leaving the Steel City, Smith-Schuster has not been as active on social media. He might make a decent consolation prize if he can avoid those distractions. Everyone is still holding out hope that Pittsburgh may acquire Aiyuk in a trade, but it doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon. Smith-Schuster would give the team an accomplished player who can inject some physicality.
