Trevor Siemian: Denver's Quarterback Question Mark

The Stetson Bennett experiment seems to be on life support right now. The Los Angeles Rams have little incentive to stick with him unless he manages to reverse his one touchdown, four interceptions preseason ratio by the end of the preseason.

Fortunately, Jimmy Garoppolo is also firmly holding onto the position as top backup. However, Garoppolo’s ban will prevent him from playing in the first two games of the regular season. Therefore, Bennett is expected to be the team’s backup quarterback for those games unless the Rams sign a quarterback. However, with Bennett serving as a backup, even a two-game gap might be too much to risk.

QBs available on free agency who are more appealing than Stetson Bennett:

Community Tailgate: Where Will Ryan Tannehill Sign?

Ryan Tannehill is number one.
Somehow, the former quarterback for the Dolphins and Titans is still accessible. Ryan Tannehill is still in his 30s and has experience playing in the AFC championship game. It is surprising that he still does not have a job in the league because of this. For the next two games, the Rams would be wise to grab Tannehill and trade him in order to obtain some quick cash.

Trevor Siemian is number two.

Trevor Siemian is a viable option if McVay decides he doesn’t want Tannehill for whatever reason. With one successful season under his belt, the Rams would at least have an experienced player available to play in a pinch. This would be a better option than Bennett. Siemian had a 2-1 record with the Jets the previous season and gives hope that, should Stafford suffer an injury in his first two games, he may steer the team toward success this year.

Aggie Football: The Browns have released Kellen Mond

Kellen Mond is number three

The most fascinating thing about Bennett is that some people are still unsure of his ceiling. The Rams might go to Kellen Mond if they really want a project quarterback with an unproven upside. Throughout his career, Mond has only participated in one game, according to Pro Football Reference. The Rams may have a new quarterback under consideration, and with uncertainty comes a possible higher ceiling.

Blaine Gabbert is number four

By no means would Blaine Gabbert be a seductive acquisition. He has, nevertheless, experience working behind quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. He would be able to cover Matthew Stafford for a few games because of those experiences. Just based on that, he might be a valuable addition—even if it’s not as ideal as the other options.

While Gabbert’s lessons from working with Andy Reid last season didn’t seem to stick, they might have after an off-season in which to consider his reps.
