Breaking: Former Jets favorite WR may sign with a rival division after a brief retirement.

Do you recall Corey Davis? The wide receiver for the former New York Jets, who let fans down after agreeing to a three-year contract in 2021, looks to be back—sort of. He made an attempt to try out for the Buffalo Bills, a division opponent and possibly the Jets’ greatest Super Bowl adversary.

Although Davis was projected to be a long-term asset to the offense, he only played for the Jets for two seasons before he abruptly retired at the age of 28. Given that Davis was supposed to play with Aaron Rodgers, the best quarterback he had ever caught passes from, it was difficult to understand this. But he passed away at a very young age.

After a year, he is returning from his brief retirement. He’s worked out with the Buffalo Bills in an attempt to ignite a comeback. Even though the Jets won’t be overly affected by this, it is somewhat of a slap in the face given that Haason Reddick is said to have wanted a trade the same week. Some players (like Peyton Manning, for example) seem to simply not want to play for the Jets, which may not make sense.

Given that this is likely the best the Jets have ever been, it’s an odd phenomenon. Besides, it’s improbable that Davis took an early retirement to get away from New York. Still, it’s surprising to see him making an attempt to make a comeback.

Signing with a division rival after returning would be a bit of a gut punch. He may not have retired for any other reason, but it’s obvious that he doesn’t relish the thought of playing wide receiver for the Jets.

After 22 games and 66 receptions for 1,028 yards, Davis concluded his career with the Jets. Considering the QB play, these figures aren’t too horrible, even though they won’t blow anyone away.

Davis played for the Tennessee Titans for a few very strong seasons before joining the Jets. Therefore, it wouldn’t be completely out of the question for him to be an impact player at 29.

Davis’s situation remains uncertain. More questions than answers are present. What is the remaining amount in his tank? Next, where will he work out? In 2024, who will he be playing for? In2024, will he still be playing?
