ESPN: Giants favorite DT surprisingly signed a blockbuster deal with Cowboys.
Jordan Phillips, a seasoned defensive tackle who didn’t seem to fit with the squad, was dealt by the New York Giants to the Dallas Cowboys. The report was first provided by Jordan Schultz.
The Giants will send a seventh-round selection to Dallas and the Cowboys will send a sixth-round pick to the Giants, according to Schultz. The pick swap will occur in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to the New York Post.
In the offseason, the 31-year-old Phillips, who is in his tenth NFL season, inked a free agent contract with the Giants. However, he had been working mainly with the defense units of the second and third teams throughout practice.
A number of talented defensive lineman are competing for slots with the Giants in addition to Dexter Lawrence and Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Ryder Anderson, D.J. Davidson, Jordan Riley, and rookie undrafted free agents Elijah Chatman and Casey Rogers are a few of them. At 5 feet 11 inches and 280 pounds, Chatman is tiny, but he has shown remarkable promise.
During the Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams joint practice on Wednesday, unpleasant incident involving Dallas defensive tackle Albert Huggins occurred.
Two safety, Jonathan Sutherland and Raheem Layne, were allegedly signed by the Giants on Wednesday. One of the roster places required to add Sutherland and Layne is taken care of by trading Phillips. As soon as we are aware of the other move, we will notify you.
