Breaking: Raiders signed Buffalo Bills Veteran Quarterback in a blockbuster deal.

Buffalo's Nathan Peterman has his Master's in football and in business

The main topic of conversation throughout the Las Vegas Raiders’ training camp has been quarterback, as the team attempts to determine which player—Garrison Minshew or Aidan O’Connell—will start at quarterback this year. As training progressed, however, the team needed a different face in the quarterback room, so they went with a well-known one.

Ryan Ward of Raiders News Wire has learned that the Raiders have signed veteran quarterback Nathan Peterman, who was with the team for two seasons in 2020 and 2021.

With this move, the Raiders now have five quarterbacks on the roster. In addition to O’Connell and Minshew, Anthony Brown has been the squad’s third quarterback. Carter Bradley, an undrafted rookie, has also played for the team. However, Peterman offers experience with both the new offense and the Raiders.

Peterman is quite aware with this scheme and how it should function, having spent the last two seasons with both the Chicago Bears and the new Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Thus, the Raiders are adding not just a seasoned player with five career starts, but also a player who can enhance the offensive of the other players on the team.

Although there is very little possibility that Peterman will stay, the coaches can use him to help the offense work smoothly during practices and preseason games. This will also offer them a better opportunity to assess the other players on the roster in more favorable conditions.

After the second preseason game, the Raiders plan to announce the starting quarterback.
Aidan O’Connell or Gardner Minshew will still be the Raiders starting quarterbacks, even though Peterman will offer some consistency behind them. Even after the first preseason game, head coach Antonio Pierce remained mum about who might be ahead of the opposition, but information should become more apparent shortly.

After the team’s second preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys this Saturday, Pierce stated that the team plans to announce its starting lineup. This will allow the organization ample time to ensure that the player they believe is the best fit for the position is prepared for the start of the regular season.

In the preseason opener, both players performed admirably. In the 24-23 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, O’Connell completed 7 of 9 passes for 76 yards, while Minshew completed 6 of 12 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.
