The ninety-man roster of the New England Patriots that was cut on Monday will remain intact.

Following his waiver clearance, rookie defensive end John Morgan III was placed on injured reserve, according the NFL transaction wire. In addition to allowing him to become a free agent through an injury settlement, the transfer terminates his 2024 mid-August.

Morgan, 24, missed practice and was placed on waiver at the start of the week due to an injury. Arriving at Gillette Stadium in May, the 6-foot-1, 252-pound player was a member of the organization’s undrafted class.

Morgan spent six years alternating between the ACC and SEC. In 2023, he transferred from the University of Pittsburgh to the University of Arkansas. During that time, he made 64 appearances and recorded 89 tackles and 16 sacks. The redshirt senior contributed to 15 tackles, two sacks, his third career pass deflection, and his fourth career forced fumble for the Razorbacks last fall.
