ESPN: The Jets GM Joe Douglas deny Jets star player’s trade request.
As it approaches its third week, Haason Reddick’s holdout from the New York Jets has grown strained.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas stated that the organization has no plans to deal Reddick after a source told The Associated Press that the standout edge rusher asked for a trade on Monday.
In a Jets statement that was circulated on social media, Douglas stated, “We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report.” Since the trade talks in March, we have maintained a straightforward, consistent, and unambiguous stance on our position.
“As we get ready for the regular season, our attention will stay on the guys that are here.”
The AP left a message for Reddick’s reps, but it wasn’t answered right away.
Reddick requested a trade from the Eagles because to his contract predicament, and in the offseason, he was dealt to the New York Jets from Philadelphia. The Eagles were not going to give him a new contract, even though he requested one.
Reddick, who hasn’t practiced with the Jets in six months, is now requesting a second trade, which is upsetting the Jets. Reddick’s most recent request was initially made public by NFL Network.
On July 25, the second day of camp practice for the Jets, the 29-year-old Reddick was placed on the reserve/did not report list.
In order for them to settle the matter and settle the contract disagreement, the team hoped he would report to the facility. Rather, now that the 21-day mark has passed, Reddick requests a trade.
Reddick was purchased by the Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2026, although he hasn’t played throughout the offseason. Expecting no problems and that Reddick would report in accordance with his present contract, New York made the transaction.
Since then, something has gone awry.
In the last year of his deal, his basic pay is expected to be $14.25 million. Reddick faces a fine of more than $1 million for skipping the first three weeks of training.
In addition, he was denied a $250,000 workout bonus for missing the Jets’ offseason practices. Reddick’s pay for the current campaign is not guaranteed in any way.
